According to his friend, Singh had borrowed money on Friday to purchase chitta (heroin) from Nurpur Hakima and died after injecting the drug on Saturday. A syringe was recovered from the spot.

While local residents expressed anger, claiming that drugs are still openly available despite the government’s 'War Against Drugs' campaign, Station House Officer (SHO) Lachman Singh stated that the family mentioned the deceased suffered from a respiratory illness.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem at Moga Civil Hospital to determine the exact cause of death, and a formal investigation is currently underway.
