Finance Minister Manpreet Badal has announced to upgrade 250 elementary schools as high and senior secondary schools this year.

An amount of Rs 100 crore has been allocated for providing smartphones to Class XII students in the session 2021-2022. The Finance Minister said the government would issue an advertisement to recruit 8,184 teachers.

The government has already notified a teacher transfer policy and plans to introduce a teacher transfer Act for making the policy a permanent arrangement. The government will enact ‘The Punjab Education (Recruitment of Teachers in Disadvantageous Areas) Act.

For the higher education sector, Rs 100 crore has been allocated for completing the construction of government colleges and universities.

He said the monthly pension of elderly writers would be increased from Rs 5,000 per month to Rs 15,000.
