Amid opposition demand of extending the three-day winter session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, it is likely to be curtailed by a day owing to inadequate business.

The session is likely to be wrapped up in two days — December 13 and December 14, as the business advisory committee of Vidhan Sabha recommended two-day session in wake of inadequate business.

This means the session would be wrapped up on December 14 (Friday), despite opposition demanding the session to be extended.

Earlier, the sixth session of the 15th Punjab Vidhan Sabha began on Thursday with obituary references.

Akali MLAs led by Bikram Majithia and AAP MLAs led by Harpal Cheema arrived for the opening day of the session.

The three people killed in the bomb blast at Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar and the 58 people killed in the Amritsar rail tragedy figured among those listed for obituary references.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh did not attend the opening day of the session as he is recovering from the recent viral infection.

The session also remembered those who were martyred during the attack on Parliament in 2001.

SAD leader Bikram Majithia demanded obituary reference for the farmers who had committed suicide and the soldiers martyred on the border. The House agreed to the demand of the opposition benches.
