3 held for man’s death

The police here have arrested three persons in connection with the death of a 31-year-old man. His body was found under suspicious circumstances on a road near Jammu Basti on Friday. His family has alleged that there were blunt injury marks on his body.

The deceased was identified as Maninder Singh Sonu. The police said the cause of death could only be ascertained after they receive post-mortem report, which may take a few weeks.

A case was registered against four persons under Section 103, 61 (2), 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the statement of Dharam Nagari resident Bhupinder Singh, who is a retired bank employee.

The complainant said his son Sonu, who had been working as a pharmacist at a private hospital in Mohali, had got into the company of drug addicts, but distanced from them later.

The family further claimed that Sonu recently planned to quit his job in Mohali and join a hospital in Bathinda. He had come to Abohar five days ago to plan moving to Bathinda. “He left home on motorcycle at 2 pm on Thursday. He said that he was going for some work and would return by evening, but he did not return,” a family member said.

After investigating, the City-1 police arrested three persons — Amandeep Singh Suraj of Dharam Nagari, Chanchal Singh of Baba Jiwan Singh Nagar and Simranjeet Singh Guri of Baba Deep Singh Nagar, Abohar. The fourth suspect, Harmel Singh (alias Happy Doctor) was not found at his house, the police said. — OC
