3 students among 8 injured in accident

Bathinda, November 10

A van of Akal Academy, situated in Jagah Ram Tirath village, ferrying students from Jajjal, Malkana and other villages rammed into a tractor-trailer due to smog on the Talwandi Sabo-Rama Mandi road this morning.

Eight persons, including three school students, were injured in the accident. The condition of one student is serious.

It was reportedly a violation of the state government’s order to keep the schools closed for a few days due to the smog cover.

Taking a strict note, the Rama police have registered a case against the principal of the school, Rajinder Kaur, for not obeying the order of closing the school.

As per information, there was some religious ceremony at Akal Academy.

The collision was so strong that the tractor-trailer overturned.

The three students injured in the accident are Narinderdeep Singh (10), a resident of Jajjal, Parvinder Singh (13), a resident of Jajjal, and Ekamjot Singh (5), a resident of Malkana.

Others injured in this accident are Gurdev Kaur (65), Nardev Kaur (55), Karanpreet Singh (9), all travelling in the tractor-trailer and driver Gurjant Singh.

Student Parwinder Singh got his leg fractured and he has been referred to a private hospital.

The school van driver Mukhwinder Singh said he was taking the students to the school for a religious function and there was dense fog, due to which they met with an accident.

Principal Rajinder Kaur said the school didn’t open today but there was a religious function due to which students, along with parents, were invited.

Rama police station SHO Manoj Kumar said they had registered a case under Section 188 of the IPC against principal Rajinder Kaur for not obeying the administration’s orders.

Disobeying order of closing school

It was reportedly a violation  of the state government’s order to keep the schools closed for a few days due to the smog cover.

Principal Rajinder Kaur said the school didn’t open on Friday but there was a religious function due to which students and parents were invited.
