4 arrested for raping, killing elderly woman

The Khanauri police have arrested four youths for the murder and rape of Bhago Devi (65), whose body was recovered from her house on November 24. One of the accused is a minor.

The accused include a relative of the deceased.

“We have arrested four persons, including Sagar, Bunty, Bittu and a minor and all four are from Shutrana village. During investigations, it has come to light that the accused entered the house of the deceased with intent to commit robbery as she stayed alone. However, they raped the victim before strangling her to death,” said Moonak DSP Buta Singh Gill.

The DSP added that they had arrested all accused and conducting further investigations. They have recovered stolen items, including gold earrings.

The deceased had been staying alone for the past 20 years after the death of her husband Ram Lal.

“Sagar is the grandson of the brother of the deceased and used to visit her house,” said Khanauri SHO Kartar Singh. — TNS
