Authorities launch probe to trace how phones entered the prison and possible staff involvement
Four inmates at Faridkot Central Jail have been booked after mobile phones were recovered during a surprise search, officials said on Monday.
The recovery followed a report by Assistant Superintendent of the jail, Kamaljit Singh, prompting authorities to conduct thorough inspections of barracks and blocks, along with jail staff.
The inmates found in possession of the phones have been identified as Babaljit Singh of Bhalur village, Faridkot; Trilok Singh of Ganganagar, Rajasthan; Pawan Kumar of Bikaner, Rajasthan; and Dalair Singh of Alike Road, Basti Bagwali, Ferozepur district.
A case has been registered in the matter under relevant sections. Officials said further investigation is underway to determine how the prohibited items were smuggled into the jail and whether any staff members were involved.
