4 kg heroin worth Rs 20 crore recovered

Ferozepur, January 15

The Counter Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have recovered 4 kg heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market following information by a drug peddler nabbed by the police a few days ago.

SSP Bhupinder Singh said the CIA staff had nabbed Malkeet Singh, alias Kala (35), of Tendi Wala with 100 grams heroin on January 10. Following the recovery, a case under the NDPS Act was registered against the suspect at the Sadar police station.

“During preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that Malkeet had links with Pakistan-based drug smugglers and was in touch with cross-border drug peddlers through the social media. At least, 13 Pakistan mobile numbers were found in his mobile,” he said. “A joint search operation was carried out with personnel of BSF’s 136 Battalion during which the consignment was recovered. — OC
