The Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested four alleged associates of Gurpreet Sekhon Gang for their involvement in the sensational murder of Overseer Singh, alias Satinder Singh, alias Satti.

The police had also recovered one .32 bore pistol along with six cartridges from their possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav here on Saturday.

Those arrested have been identified as Gurpreet Singh, alias Gopi, of Selbrah village in Bathinda; Lovejeet Sharma, alias Lavi, of Bhai Rupa village in Bathinda; Vinod Kumar, alias Skill Sharma, of Bhai Rupa village in Bathinda; and Gagandeep Singh of Bhagta Bhaika in Bathinda. Apart from recovering the weapon, the police have also impounded their White Hyundai Verna.

Overseer Singh of Bhai Rupa in Bathinda, a known history-sheeter, was shot dead at his native village by their neighbour along with his associates due to personal enmity at 4 am on February 5.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said the preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused had a criminal history with a number of cases including murder and attempt to murder., registered against them.

The DGP said further investigations were ongoing to identify more persons involved to dismantle the networks. More arrests were likely, he added. Sharing more details, Additional Director General of Police, AGTF, Promod Ban said following the murder of Overseer Singh, the AGTF had launched an operation to trace and apprehend the accused persons involved in this murder.
