Faridkot, August 7

A day after arresting an Assistant Jail Superintendent (AJS) for allegedly supplying drugs and mobile phones to inmates of Central Jail here, the police have seized Rs 6 lakh from his house at Gidderbaha in Muktsar district.

The police have also identified the person, who allegedly supplied drugs to AJS Binny Taank. The person, identified as Suraj Gharu, has been booked.

“The police are hopeful of unravelling the nexus,” said SSP Raj Pal Singh Sandhu.

Some time back, the arrest of another AJS had unravelled the modus operandi of drug smuggling and payment mode for drugs supplied to jail inmates. The AJS allegedly smuggled drugs into the jail, while a jailed drug smuggler supplied it to the inmates.
