AAP protests Cong meeting at rest house

SANGRUR: Congress leaders today used local PWD rest house for a party meeting to support District Congress Chief (DCC) Raja Beerkalan, who is facing allegations of booth capturing from the AAP.

Sangrur, September 20

Congress leaders today used local PWD rest house for a party meeting to support District Congress Chief (DCC) Raja Beerkalan, who is facing allegations of booth capturing from the AAP. Some AAP leaders also reached outside the rest house and raised slogans against Congress leaders. When Congress workers came out, AAP leaders left the venue.

AAP leaders alleged that it was the violation of the poll code, but the DC said the code was applicable only in panchayat’s jurisdiction. “AAP MLA from Sunam Aman Arora is instigating his partyworkers against me,” alleged Raja Beerkalan.

Sangrur DC Ghanshayam Thori confirmed that he had got a complaint from Arora, but said, “The model code of conduct is applicable only in the revenue jurisdiction of panchayats, where elections are being held.” — TNS
