Accusing the AAP of “betraying Punjab, Punjabis and Punjabiyat”, Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, who recently joined the BJP, on Saturday said the state would reject the party in the 2027 Assembly elections.

Citing recent ED raids and findings as vindication of his decision to quit the AAP, Raghav said the party had promised a prosperous Punjab, but had instead pushed the state into financial ruin.

“The AAP promised to make Punjab ‘rangla’, but ended up making its treasury ‘kangla’,” he said, adding that people had elected the party to govern, “not loot”.

Reacting to reports that Rs 21 lakh in cash was allegedly thrown from a ninth-floor balcony during an Enforcement Directorate raid, Raghav said, “Had this money been earned honestly, it would not have been thrown off the ninth floor during a raid. This points to blatant misuse of public funds.”

The BJP leader referred to documents reportedly emerging from ED investigations regarding the alleged round-tripping of hundreds of crores and said, “Companies were created in the UAE, Canada and Australia to facilitate round-tripping of funds; this is a betrayal of Punjab’s mandate.”

He said the ED revelations validated concerns repeatedly raised earlier by several leaders, including seven Rajya Sabha MPs who had recently distanced themselves from the party.
