Abohar, February 11
Gobind Nagari (Abohar) resident Sanjay Garg (35), who was shifted to a super-speciality hospital in Sriganganagar, died on Saturday.
Medanta Medicity hospital specialist Dr Arun Kalra said in his report that the patient was admitted on January 25 and he was suffering from severe breathlessness and cough. On Saturday, he suffered a cardio-pulmonary arrest. He tested positive for swine flu (H1N1).
Taking up the case with the higher authorities on Monday, Parmod Mittal said his nephew Sanjay was having high fever on January 25. A private physician advised them to take him to the Civil Hospital. The doctors at the hospital referred him to a Faridkot hospital, but the family preferred to take him to Sriganganagar which is much closer than Faridkot. Even as symptoms of swine flu were clear, none of the Civil Hospital staff visited the house of the patient to convey preventive measures, Mittal rued. Sub Divisional Magistrate Poonam Singh said the complaint will be looked into to ascertain who at the government hospital was at fault. —OC
