A day after SAD chief-cum-MP Ferozepur Sukhbir Singh Badal tested positive for COVID-19, he was on Wednesday taken to Medanta Hospital, Gurugram.

Notably, Sukhbir had yesterday isolated himself at his official residence at Sector 4, Chandigarh.

The SAD has already cancelled all the rallies scheduled to be held this month.

Meanwhile, Sukhbir on Wednesday tweeted, “Thanks to the blessings of Guru Sahib and all your good wishes, I am doing well. However, I am going to Medanta Hospital Gurgaon for further tests as a cautionary measure. Your messages of love & concern are much appreciated.”

Sources, however, said Sukhbir was feeling unwell, thus taken to Gurugram. He was even taken to the Fortis Hospital, Mohali, for some tests on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, three of his domestic workers at his Badal village residence here too have tested COVID-19 positive.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, 93-year-old former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who is at present at his Badal village residence, too on Tuesday underwent the COVID-19 test but was found negative.

Dr Manju Bansal, SMO, Civil Hospital, Badal, said, “Three workers at the former CM’s residence have tested COVID-19 positive, isolated themselves at their own residences. The former CM is tested Covid negative.”

Notably, Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal is already in Delhi and the family was reportedly planning to quarantine the former CM too in Delhi as a precautionary measure.

In August last year, a large number of people, including security personnel, deployed at the Badals’ residence were tested Covid positive.
