The Punjab Police and other security agencies in the state have been put on alert following a purported audio message, in which Khalistan Zindabad Force Ranjit Singh Neeta is heard threatening attacks on railway infrastructure in the country.
The audio, which surfaced online on Saturday, warns of explosions over the next 10 days. The threat reportedly comes in the wake of the death of Tarn Taran-based operative Jagroop Singh, who had died while planting a bomb on a rail track near Bothonia village between Shambu and Rajpura on April 27.
Neeta, who founded the KZF in 1993, was declared a terrorist and faces multiple terror-related cases in India. Originally hailing from Jammu’s Simbal Camp, he has long been at the centre of several terror attacks in Punjab. He had fled to Pakistan after cultivating ties with smugglers and was allegedly radicalising Sikh youths.
Officials said security agencies had intensified surveillance across sensitive locations, particularly along railway routes in Punjab and adjoining states. The Indian Railways has also stepped up security measures, including increased patrolling and anti-sabotage checks.
