Akal Takht, SGPC on Wednesday expressed condolences over demise of Sikh devotees in a road accident at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib last night.
After a bus carrying Sikh pilgrims overturned in the Bassi Pathana area of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib late last night killing six devotees and injuries to several others, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht, directed the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to reach out to the affected families and extend all possible assistance.
He offered prayers for the departed souls, seeking that the Guru Sahib grant them a place at His feet and bless their families with the strength to accept His will. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident.
Jathedar Gargaj also expressed deep sorrow over the death of devotees in the accident. The devotees were returning after paying obeisance at Sri Anandpur Sahib on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Baisakhi).
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that the Sikh body will extend all kinds of support to the victims of the road accident. He expressed his condolences over the sad demise of devotees and prayed to the Almighty to give their families courage to withstand the trauma.
