Security agencies were spooked by reports of `suspicious men in Army fatigues’ entering Patiala in a UP registered car early Monday only to find later that the men were actually genuine Army officials after the car was tracked down.

An alert has been sounded in Patiala after four men wearing army fatigues were spotted moving in a Ford Figo car early Monday morning.

Police sources said that some residents spotted a car bearing registration number from Uttar Pradesh moving under suspicious circumstances.

The car was first seen entering Patiala in the morning at the National Highway toll barrier in Bahadurgarh. Thereafter, the police sounded an alert after many people informed the police control room about suspicious new car with some army men sitting in it and making rounds of the city
 

However, after frenetic six hour long search operation, the Patiala police tracked down the car. Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that the occupants were found to be genuine Army men who had copme to Patiala to join back duty at Tarapore army cantonment.
