Amritsar man arrested for ‘abetting’ wife’s suicide ‘hangs self’ in police lock-up

Dilpreet Singh, a resident of Phoollan Wala Chowk, was arrested for abetment to suicide after his wife Paramjit Kaur allegedly hanged herself recently

A man allegedly committed suicide in Division D police station's lock-up here on Tuesday morning.

Dilpreet Singh, a resident of Phoollan Wala Chowk, was arrested for alleged abetment to suicide after his wife Paramjit Kaur allegedly hanged herself recently.

Dilpreet allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the iron grill of the police lockup. According to police, he used a bedsheet for it. 

When Dilpreet's family reached the police station in the morning, they came to know about it.

The police have sent the body for post-mortem.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Harjit Dhaliwal said investigation was in progress.
