Amritsar official's death: Family demands ex-minister Laljit Bhullar's arrest before post-mortem
Kin of Gagandeep Randhawa refuse last rites until Bhullar and other accused are arrested; express fear for their safety and demand police protection
The family of deceased Punjab State Warehousing Corporation Amritsar District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa has demanded the immediate arrest of former Punjab Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and other accused before allowing the post-mortem examination of the body.
Randhawa’s wife, Upinder Kaur, while addressing the media, said the family would not permit the post-mortem until Bhullar and other suspects are taken into custody.

She alleged that her husband was under immense pressure, assaulted, and humiliated, which ultimately drove him to take the extreme step.
“We want justice first. The post-mortem will only be conducted and the body will be cremated after the arrest of the accused minister,” she asserted.
She further stated that if the Punjab Government had been serious, it would not have delayed the registration of the FIR, adding that the case was only registered at midnight.
Expressing fear for their safety, Upinder Kaur demanded immediate police protection, stating that their lives remain at risk.
“If anything happens to me or my family, the AAP government will be responsible,” she warned.
The case has triggered a political storm in Punjab, with opposition parties demanding strict action and a transparent probe by an independent agency into the circumstances leading to Randhawa’s death.
Leaders of various political parties have announced plans to hold an agitation outside the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday.
