Following the incident, a social media post allegedly linked to Aarzoo Bishnoi began circulating online, claiming responsibility for the attack
A shooting was reported in the Savanna Park area of Calgary, targeting the home of Punjabi-origin man, Lovjeet Sandhu. A video circulating online shows gunfire aimed at the residence.
Police said multiple shots were fired, but no information has yet been released about injuries or property damage. The suspect reportedly fled the scene, and police have launched an investigation.
Following the incident, a social media post allegedly linked to Aarzoo Bishnoi began circulating online, claiming responsibility for the attack.
The post mentioned associates said to be connected with the Lawrence Bishnoi group and included warnings directed at rivals. Police have said that the investigation was ongoing and more forensic work is required before any links to social media claims can be confirmed, according to CBC News.
At least 28 extortion-related incidents have been reported since the beginning of 2025 in the city and 13 were shootings in them, police said.
This shooting was one of two incidents in northeast Calgary over the weekend that police believe may be connected to ongoing extortion-related violence targeting the city’s South Asian community.
On Sunday, another home was reportedly shot at before the offenders fled in a white sedan.
