ASI Bohar Singh had a tiff with Punjab Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan’s brother in June
Faridkot, September 2
About two weeks after the Kotkapura police booked an ASI for receiving Rs 1 lakh as bribe, Vidhan Sabha Speaker and Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Monday raised the issue in the Assembly. On August 20, the Kotkapura police booked Bohar Singh under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act for the alleged offence of accepting Rs 1 lakh as bribe from an accused in a sexual harassment case.

Interestingly, in June this year, ASI Bohar Singh had accused Bir Davinder Singh, the younger brother of Kultar Singh Sandhwan, of hurling abuses at him for ‘ignoring’ latter’s supporters. Much to the embarrassment of the Speaker, Bohar Singh, the then head munshi at the Faridkot sadar police station, had even made an entry in the daily diary report (DDR) at the police station detailing the threats he had received from Speaker’s brother.
In this 2.25-minute audio, which had gone viral, Bir Davinder was heard “hurling abuses” at Bohar Singh for “ignoring” his supporters. In the DDR, Bohar Singh had stated that Bir Davinder called him five times between 9.01 pm and 9.38 pm on June 12. He had alleged that Bir Davinder had also threatened that he would get him transferred to a remote area in the state. However, Bir Davinder Singh had denied the allegations.
