New Delhi: BJP MP Shwait Malik on Thursday lauded Bills introduced in the Rajya Sabha for the establishment and incorporation of New Delhi International Arbitration Centre for better management of arbitration and to amend the Arbitration and Conciliation Act.

BJP MP Shwait Malik on Thursday lauded Bills introduced in the Rajya Sabha for the establishment and incorporation of New Delhi International Arbitration Centre for better management of arbitration and to amend the Arbitration and Conciliation Act. "Revolutionary changes are happening in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bills seek to create proper eco-system to strengthen the economy," Malik, taking part in discussion on the Bills in the Upper House. TNS

Party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal's political secretary Charanjit Singh Brar said forms for recruiting members for the SAD had been dispatched to all district presidents, legislators and halqa sewadars. Booked a month ago for posting objectionable remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on social media, rapper Hard Kaur today defended the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) on Twitter. Using swear words for Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, she said she supported Sikhs for Justice and Sikh Referendum-2020. The Indian government had last week banned Sikhs for Justice for allegedly abetting terrorism. TNS

Doc killed in road mishap near Ferozepur village

A young doctor died when her car collided head-on with an Army three-tonner near Rukna Begu village while she was coming back from Faridkot on Thursday morning.  The deceased has been identified as Chestha Khera (25). She was pursuing her second year of postgraduation course of MD (Ophthalmology) at Guru Gobind Singh Hospital and Medical College, Faridkot. Earlier, she did her MBBS from Adesh Medical College, Bathinda. TNS

DIET students protest against roadways staff

Students of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) at Barkandi village near here lodged a protest at the local bus stand when some bus employees allegedly misbehaved with them. Notably, the students had gone there to raise the demand of one more bus to run between the bus stand and the DIET. Presently, just one bus plies on the route. The students lifted the protest when the administration assured them of action against the erring staffers and starting one more bus from July 19. TNS

4 killed in road accidents 

Four persons were killed in three mishaps in the last 24 hours. Tempo driver Ramandeep (27) and a commuter, Madan Lal (23), were killed as a three-wheeler collided with a truck outside a petrol station near Chak 87GB on Raisinghnagar road. In another incident, Mohinder Meghwal (30) was killed and driver Sanjay (29) and cleaner Sunil Birmana (24) were injured when two trucks collided head-on on the Sriganganagar-Bikaner highway. Biker Jas Ram (23) was killed as a JCB machine reportedly hit the two-wheeler on the Raziasar road. OC

‘Spurious’ desi ghee seized

A team of the Health Department on Thursday seized 232 litres of suspected spurious ghee from a shop at Ghas Mandi chowk here. Dr Sukhpal Singh, Civil Surgeon, Muktsar, said, “Acting on a tip-off, our team conducted a surprise visit at a shop and seized 232 litres of desi ghee of two brands. We had information that the shopkeeper was selling the ghee for about Rs 280 per kg against the market price of Rs 450-500 per kg. The samples have been sent for the laboratory testing.” TNS
