Bishnoi aide Jhinjha nabbed from Abohar
The city police have arrested Javed Jhinjha, a close aide of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in Abohar. Javed Jhinjha (25), alias Rativ of Beganwali village in Fazilka, was held on a tipoff at Sitto Gunno Road here, police station incharge Pramila Sidhu said. A case was registered against him under Section 128 of BNS.
Sources said that Jhinjha had studied with Lawrence Bishnoi at a school in Abohar and later in a Chandigarh college. He was appointed college unit president of Student Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) by Bishnoi.
According to police, eight cases naming Jhinjha were registered in the past few years at Abohar, Sikar in Rajasthan and Chandigarh. He was acquitted in all the three cases filed at Abohar, and one at Sikar. Hearing in one case in Sikar and three in Chandigarh was pending.
The local police had been informed that he was wanted by the Gurugram police too. He was produced in the court of Sub Divisional Magistrate and later handed over to the Haryana Police.
A case was registered against Javed Jhinjha and another Bishnoi aide Ravinder Singh under Sections 386, 387, 511 and 120-B of the IPC, 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, and Section 24 of the Immigration Act at Maloya police station in Chandigarh on May 18.
In May, a moneylender associated with Javed Jhinjha had been arrested by the Crime Branch of the UT police for allegedly circulating money extorted by the gang. The accused, identified as 51-year-old Jagtar Singh, also known as Tony, is a resident of Sector 44, Chandigarh. Last year, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided Jhinjha’s parental house in Beganwali and conducted a search for four hours.
