AMRITSAR: A 13-year-old boy was kidnapped on Thursday from a school playground where he along with several other children was celebrating Holi.

A 13-year-old boy was kidnapped on Thursday from a school playground where he along with several other children was celebrating Holi.

The victim was identified as Harsh, a resident of Jastarwal village falling under Bhindi Saida police station in the rural belt. 

According to information, the victim, a seventh standard student, was kidnapped by two youths with shorn hair and taken away in a car here at around 4.30 pm. 

Immediately, the onlookers informed the police and his family members.

The police swiftly swung into action and cordoned the entire rural belt and installed checkpoints in various parts of the district. 

SSP Amritsar Rural, Parampal Singh said due to intensive checking, the unidentified accused abandoned the boy on roadside near Radha Soami Satsung Bhavan at Hothia village.

He was rescued by the police and later handed over to his family. His father is a farmer.

The SSP said the police registered a kidnapping case in this regard. The police was working on different theories to crack the case.
