SAD chief and former deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, after his questioning by SIT, on Monday spoke about the blast in Amritsar.

He said the situation reminded him of 1978 incident of attack on Nirankaris.

He  alleged: "Till 25 years ago, the state suffered because of terrorism. Moderate Akali Dal was pushed back by the Punjab Congress to usurp power."

He alleged, “Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh is again meddling with radical elements, those who want to bring Punjab on boil.”

He alleged that the Capt and his Cabinet colleagues have had held meetings with the radicals over the past few months.

“Even within the Congress, leaders are questioning the money being received by radical leader Baljit Singh Daduwal. MP Ravneet Singh Bittu has hinted that the Bargari morcha behind the blast at Adliwal,” he said.

He said just like 25 years ago, hand grenades were used, they are being used again. AK-47 were found in hostels of students then, and arms being recovered from students in hostels now.

He said in spite of the warning by the Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat, no preparedness has been done to tackle the issue in the state.

“I was called for questioning by police and I asked them: how many times did the present CM held meetings to review law and order situation. Capt is incompetent to lead the state,” said Sukhbir, adding that the Congress leaders and MLAs were being rebuked by people of Punjab for fanning radical elements.

“I told the SIT: it had a political motive behind it. I was questioned by all five members,” he added.

He said: “I asked for a copy of the FIR in which I was summoned. SIT did not have a copy of FIR. The FIR was registered in August, the complainant was summoned to the police station in Kotkapura on phone - this is mentioned in the FIR. This shows that the case is politically motivated.”

“I was not in Punjab. I had sought the chief minister’s permission to go out of the state and was away from October 8-14, 2015, when the police action was initiated, said Badal, adding that he was asked just four to five questions.

“I was also asked if I had met actor Akshay Kumar in Mumbai. To which, I replied that I have never met the actor outside Punjab,” he said.

The SIT probing the Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura police firing incidents questioned Sukhbir today.
