The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested two persons in Zirakupur in an alleged bribery case of Rs 10 lakh.

The CBI has arrested two persons for allegedly demanding Rs 50 lakhs from a fantasy sports company for helping in disposing of a complaint against it in the office of the DSP, Zikarpur in Punjab, officials said Thursday.

CBI has registered a case in Chandigarh on a complaint alleging that a person was demanding a bribe of Rs.50 lakhs for disposing of a complaint received against the complainant in the office of DSP, Zirakpur.

CBI laid a trap and the person was caught while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from the complainant as part payment.

After accepting the said bribe, the accused handed over the same to another person, who was accompanying him. The accomplice was also caught. It has also been alleged that an amount of Rs.12.5 lakh was delivered earlier by the complainant to the accused.

Searches were conducted at three premises of the accused in Zirakpur, Jind and Kaithal.

The arrested were produced in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases at Chandigarh and remanded to two days of police custody.with PTI
