Charges framed in Ludhiana gangrape case

LUDHIANA: The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Rashmi Sharma today framed charges against all six accused in the Issewal gangrape case.

Ludhiana, May 6

The Court of Additional Sessions Judge Rashmi Sharma today framed charges against all six accused in the Issewal gangrape case.

Those who have been chargesheeted are Sadiq Ali of Mukandpur, Nawanshahr, Jagroop Singh, alias Rupi, of Jaspal Bangar village, Surmo of Khanpur village, Dehlon, Saif Ali of Dehlon, Ajay, alias, Lalan of Jassad Paddi village, Ludhiana, and a juvenile, aged about 16 and half years.

Special Public Prosecutor BD Gupta said the court had also framed charges under Section 66-E (clicking objectionable photographs of victim girl) of the Information Technology Act-2000 against all accused.

Earlier, the police had filed the chargesheet under Sections 376-D, 342, 384, 354-B, 279-B, 364-A and 397 of the IPC against the accused on April 4.

The case will come up for recording evidence of prosecution witnesses on May 15.
