Class 9 final exams get cancelled after 3 Moga schools get bomb threat
No suspicious items or explosives have been recovered so far
Panic gripped Moga district on Monday after three government schools received emails threatening to blow up the buildings. The threat led to the immediate evacuation of students and the cancellation of a scheduled examination.
The threat emails were sent to Government School, Godhewala, Government School, Ugoke and Government School, Jhandiana.
Upon discovering the emails during routine digital checks, school authorities immediately alerted the police and the Education Department.
Since the schools were in session, teachers prioritised student safety by calmly evacuating the premises. The Class 9 final examination, which was scheduled for the day, was officially cancelled.
Heavy police force, accompanied by Bomb Disposal Squads and Dog Squads, arrived at the sites. Officials conducted a thorough corner-to-corner search of the classrooms, playgrounds and surrounding areas.
While the search operations were extensive, no suspicious items or explosives have been recovered so far, leading authorities to suspect the threat may be a hoax, similar to several recent incidents across Punjab.
The police have launched a technical investigation to trace the IP addresses and the origin of the emails.
“Local administrators have urged parents and the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified rumours,” a senior police officer in Moga said.
