Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Tuesday promised to provide full protection to the Badals in view of an increased threat perception.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the state government was concerned over recent reports of threats to the lives of former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal.
“Our government will ensure full security to the father-son duo,” he added.
Capt Amarinder was here to inaugurate a state-of-the-art Vigilance Bhawan, built over 1.25 acres in Sector 68 at a cost of Rs 31.29 crore.
In a related development, the Punjab Police are reviewing the Badal family’s security after the Uttar Pradesh cops claimed to have busted a terror module that planned to target the former CM and his family members.
A senior police officer said the Badals were given the highest level of security by the National Security Guard. “However, the state police keep tabs on their security. Following fresh threats, we have reviewed it,” he added.
The officer said the police and the state intelligence were taking details from the Uttar Pradesh Police.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance police station here is all set to be shifted to the Vigilance Bhawan. The new complex is equipped with work stations for employees, a training/conference hall and a meeting room. The building also conforms to the Energy Conservation Building Code.
