Jalandhar, November 29

Amid the Covid-19 outbreak, the holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi is all decked up to celebrate the 551st Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev on Monday.

The city is expected to see arrival of 10 lakh pilgrims. Aabout 3 lakh have already arrived in the city. The city shall also witness the inauguration of six developmental projects by CM Capt Amarinder Singh on Monday.

The city was also declared Smart City today with the launch of unique identification numbers for all houses in Sultanpur Lodhi.

Kapurthala SDM Charumita said, “As many as one lakh devotees came to the city yesterday and two lakh came today. As many as 3.5 lakh devotees are expected tomorrow. All precautions have also been taken as per the Covid protocol to ensure safe celebrations. The CM shall be addressing a gathering at a pandal with a capacity of 2,500 tomorrow and shall be inaugurating six projects under Smart City scheme.”

The CM shall be paying obeisance at the gurdwara tomorrow after which he shall address the gathering at the main pandal. Given the pandemic and the inflow of devotees, th six projects would be inaugurated at Government Senior Secondary School for Boys.
