Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa has said that Sikh Congress leaders will be involved in the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) elections.
Bajwa said he and other leaders who had faith in Guru Granth Sahib were of the belief that they should intervene in SGPC politics to save the apex Sikh body. “Clean Sikhs should be brought ahead to wrest control of the body from Sukhbir Badal,” he said.
In an interview to a TV channel, he made it clear that the party would not contest the elections “officially”, but Congress leaders would take part in their individual capacity.
He added that the Congress was a secular party and would never participate officially in the elections to religious bodies.
He alleged that Sukhbir had finished every institution, be it Akal Takht or the SGPC. He has turned the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)into a private limited company owned by the Badals, Bajwa added.
The minister said Congress leaders would expose and root out corruption in the SGPC.
