Chandigarh, September 17
The SAD today said the manner in which all rules were thrown to the wind to grant the job of an Excise and Taxation Officer to the son-in-law of Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar proved the Congress’ “ghar ghar naukari” scheme was restricted to family members of ministers, party legislators and leaders.
Terming Gursher Singh’s appointment illegal, ex-minister Bikram Majithia said: “The government is bent on adjusting its leaders’ kin by bending the rules. Earlier, ex-CM Beant Singh’s grandson was given the DSP’s job. Then, sons of Congress legislators Fatehjang Bajwa and Rakesh Pandey were cleared by the Cabinet, but their joining was averted after protests.”
“The Congress government has cleared the appointment though the candidate has property worth crores. Moreover, the request for appointment was made after the passage of five-year extraordinary time bar in such cases.” Majithia said the SAD would exercise all options open to it to ensure the “illegal” appointment was stuck down. — TNS
