Cops raid houses of drug peddlers in Dhuri, 5 held

Continuing their 'war against drugs' campaign, the district police today raided houses of suspected drug peddlers in the Bazigar Basti of Dhuri, the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Five persons were arrested and four cases registered in the crackdown.

As per official information, the police seized three grams of heroin, 325 intoxicating pills and Rs 1,35,410 drug money. Besides, three scooters, four motorcycles and a Maruti car were impounded.

The raids were supervised by ADGP (NRI Affairs) Parveen Kumar Sinha. Sangrur SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal, SPs Navreet Singh Virk and Mandeep Singh Sandhu and other police personnel were also present on the occasion.

During the raids, ADGP Sinha reportedly gave a clear message to drug peddlers and their family members to leave either the drug trade or the state. He said if the family members wanted to join the mainstream, the Punjab Police were ready to provide them every possible help.
