MUKTSAR: Three local youths were killed and two sustained severe injuries in a road mishap near a toll plaza in Hanumangarh district in the early hours today.

Three local youths were killed and two sustained severe injuries in a road mishap near a toll plaza in Hanumangarh district in the early hours today. The victims were on their way to Salasar Dham temple in Rajasthan in a Swift Dzire car. The injured have been admitted to Max Hospital in Bathinda.

The deceased are Nitin Teria, son of Shammi Teria, former president of the Muktsar Municipal Council; Saurabh Pruthi, son of Rajinder Kumar, and Bhushan Gawri, son of Som Nath Gawri.Those injured are Saurabh Pathela, cousin of Rajesh Pathela Gora, BJP’s Muktsar district president; and Manish Khurana Anami, a tea seller at old grain market here. All are in the 25-30 age group.

Gora Pathela, who visited the spot, said: “The car overturned after stray cattle suddenly appeared on the road. According to doctors, Saurabh and Manish are out of danger. But the three sitting on the rear seat died on the spot.” Some farmers working in nearby fields took out the victims from the badly damaged car. Romi Khunger, a relative of Saurabh Pruthi, said: “The youths made a sudden programme to go to Salasar Dham yesterday. Before leaving the town they paid obeisance at a jagran here at 10.30 pm.”
