Hurt during snatching, woman dies

Jagbir Kaur (40), who had received head injuries while clashing with snatchers two days back at the local Sarhali road, succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital in Amritsar late last evening.

She was a resident of Naushhira Pannuan township, 16 km from here.

Kulwant Singh (45), Jagbir’s husband who too was seriously injured in the clash, is under treatment at another private hospital in Amritsar. Today, the police initiated action in the matter.

The couple had come to the town to make some purchases. As they were going back on a bike, two motorcycle-borne youths tried to snatch her purse due to which both of them fell down. — OC
