Chandigarh: Two years after leaving the Congress for being denied ticket from Banga, Tarlochan Singh Soondh, a senior Dalit leader from Doaba, was brought back into the party fold by Capt Amarinder Singh on Thursday. Being seen as a prospective candidate from Hoshiarpur, Soondh had left the party in the 2017 Assembly poll. The ticket was given to former MP Satnam Kainth who lost. Party sources said PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and AICC general secretary and Punjab affairs in-charge Asha Kumari were in touch with Soondh over the past few weeks. A former IFS officer and son of slain Congress minister Jagat Ram Soondh, he had shot to fame after he hurled a shoe at Bikram Majthia in the 2016 session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha over an alleged caste slur by Akali ex-MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha.
