Deep Sidhu's brother shares stage with Waris Punjab De

Mandeep Singh Sidhu, brother of the late activist and Waris Punjab De Founder Deep Sidhu, shared a stage with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) for the first time at the joining ceremony of SAD MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
The development is significant as Mandeep had been running a bitter feud with the Waris Punjab De leadership, accusing them of wrongly taking over the organisation founded by his brother.
Deep Sidhu, who shot to prominence during the farmers' protest at the Red Fort in January 2021, died in a mysterious road accident in February 2022.
After his death, Amritpal Singh took over the reins of Waris Punjab De, a move that Mandeep had publicly contested, claiming the organisation rightfully belonged to Deep Sidhu's family and associates.
At the today’s event, Amritpal's father asked Mandeep to address the media. Mandeep later told The Tribune that he had joined the Waris Punjab De “at the instance of Tarsem Singh only who wanted us all to work for the progress of Punjab.”
Sidhu is preparing to contest election from Maur constituency. He told The Tribune that he wanted to contribute towards bringing a change in Punjab like his brother who sacrificed his life for the Punjab issues. He was appointed Secretary- General of the party recently but today was his first public appearance. Mandeep said Ayali's joining was the start of the campaign for the 2027 Assembly elections.
