Ludhiana, August 14

Former Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia today recorded his statement in defamation case against AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.

Thereafter, the court of judicial magistrate Etu Sodhi adjourned the case till August 20. The defence lawyer will cross examination Majithia on the next date of hearing.

Sanjay Singh was not present during the hearing. His personal presence was exempted by court.

In his statement, Majithia alleged that Sanjay Singh made a false and defamatory statement against him at a rally in Moga on September 9, 2015. It was alleged that he did not stop here but launched a fallacious campaign in order to defame and discredit the complaint.

He claimed that he was unnecessarily being portrayed to be involved with drug racketeers who were nabbed by none other than the Akali Dal government during their regime in Punjab.

Sanjay Singh has made slanderous, defamatory and scurrilous statements against him in an unbridled manner without any basis or material and only with the purpose of intentionally defaming and discrediting him in the eyes of the general public, he added. — TNS
