A man allegedly died by suicide after reportedly falling into depression over his wife’s alleged illicit relationship with a neighbour. The police have booked the wife and her alleged companion for abetment of suicide based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s brother.
According to the complainant, Mahinder Singh, a resident of Mahla Khurd, had been suffering from depression for some time. Before his death, he told his brother, Harjinder Singh, that his wife, Manpreet Kaur, was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with Jassa Singh, a resident of the neighbouring village of Mahla Kalan.
Harjinder Singh alleged that Manpreet Kaur and Jassa Singh had been harassing and mentally tormenting Mahinder Singh because of the alleged relationship, which ultimately drove him to take the extreme step.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case against the accused.
