Dera Bassi police nab 4 in 'Yudh Nashiyan Virudh' crackdown; seize 1,110 intoxicating tablets

As part of the ongoing campaign, ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’, to make the state drug-free, police carried out intensive checking and patrolling in Sub Division Dera Bassi and intercepted four suspicious persons. Three separate FIRs were registered at police stations Dera Bassi, Lalru and Handesra.

The accused have been identified as Jasvir Singh of Saraswati Vihar, Dera Bassi, ⁠Ajay Kumar, alias Billa, alias Jaddu, of Mubarikpur, Inderpal Singh of Sanghotha, Lalru, and ⁠Gaurav Rana of Rajapur.

During the checking, as many as 1,110 intoxicating tablets/capsules were recovered from the possession of Jasvir Singh and Ajay Kumar. In a failed attempt to flee, accused Jasvir and Ajay sustained injuries.

All accused persons have previous criminal records, with multiple FIRs registered against them at various police stations.

Further investigation is underway to identify the source and supply chain of the recovered contraband.
