Former Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa was today appointed leader of the SAD’s legislature party in the Punjab Assembly.

Akali MLAs NK Sharma and Pawan Kumar Tinu were appointed chief whip and deputy leader, respectively, said party spokesperson Harcharan Singh Bains.

The post of the leader of SAD’s legislature party had fallen vacant after Sukhbir Badal was elected MP from the Ferozepur seat. Bains said the appointments were made unanimously during a meeting of the legislature party.

Bikram Majithia, who usually leads delegations in the absence of Sukhbir, has not got any post. However, he gave his consent over the phone. — TNS
