A delegation of the SAD-BJP on Tuesday urged Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore to dismiss the Congress government for “conspiring with radical elements bent on dividing the country”. They also demanded an inquiry to “unmask the conspiracy to destabilise peace and communal harmony” in the state.

The delegation, led by SAD chief Sukhbir Badal and BJP state president Shwait Malik, urged the Governor to direct the government to take action against self-styled jathedars who were dancing to the tunes of anti-national forces.

It urged the Governor to warn the Congress that it was playing with fire by inciting religious sentiments by colluding with radical elements. Malik said peace in the state had been destroyed once earlier in the same manner by inciting communal passions. “We cannot allow Punjab to slip into an era of darkness again,” he added.
