Dispute over tree ends in tragedy as man crushes elder brother with tractor in Punjab’s Barnala

A man allegedly ran a tractor over his elder brother, killing him on the spot in Badbar village of Barnala on Thursday morning after a dispute over a tree in their field.

The deceased, Manjinder Singh (48), was travelling on a motorcycle with his farm labourer, Surinder Singh Soni, to arrange to hire a harvester when the incident took place. Soni sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

Police said the accused, Sukhwinder Singh, fled the scene after the attack and is currently absconding.

Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s wife, Paramjit Kaur, Dhanaula police have registered a case and launched a search to arrest him. The deceased is survived by his wife and a son who lives overseas.
