Donations pour in at Sultanpur

SULTANPUR LODHI: It is raining donations at Sultanpur Lodhi. Be it gurdwaras, sarais, langar halls or government pandal, the Sikh community has been making large donations for the 550th Guru Nanak birth anniversary celebrations over the past few weeks.

It is raining donations at Sultanpur Lodhi. Be it gurdwaras, sarais, langar halls or government pandal, the Sikh community has been making large donations for the 550th Guru Nanak birth anniversary celebrations over the past few weeks.

As many as 12 golaks (donation boxes) have been put up at SGPC-managed Gurdwara Ber Sahib, which has been witnessing maximum footfall of sangat. A sewadar said: “Till last month, we had four golaks, which were opened once a month and collection used to touch Rs 1 crore. Now, we are opening 12 golaks after every three days and collecting Rs 1 crore in donations."

SAD ex-minister Upinderjit Kaur said: “While a Sikh family recently donated silver gates for gurdwara, another came up with an offer to equip newly constructed Bebe Nanki Sarai with 20 fans.”
