The local police have launched a special campaign through social media to get information about Crown Chit Fund MD Jagjit Singh, who was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by a court in a fraud case in 2017 after he jumped bail and fled abroad.

“Crown Chit Fund MD Jagjit Singh was arrested on September 24, 2015, in connection with a fraud case registered at Barnala. In May 2016 he got bail, but later he jumped bail in February 2017 and was declared PO in April 2017. Since social media is very effective these days, we have launched a special campaign on our official websites, Twitter, Facebook and Whatsups groups to get any information about Jagjit Singh to arrest him,” said Harjeet Singh, SSP, Barnala.

The SSP said Jagjit had opened an office of his Crown group in Barnala in 2013. He lured the area residents with a promise to give higher rate of interest than banks and many fell in the trap and invested lakhs of rupees. But later investors didn’t get any profit and even their principal amounts.
