In another incident at Indira Nagari,  Councillor Puneet Arora Sonu said, some suspected drug traffickers on Thursday night attacked a family with bricks and also pelted their house with stones for opposing drugs trafficking. Besides Sonu, MLA Sandeep Jakhar had earlier slammed the administration for failing to keep a check on drug menace in the locality.

Residents said drug peddlers were allegedly found selling “chitta” outside the house of Ram Pal in Street-6. When the house occupants asked them to go away, the suspects attacked them. Ram Pal and his nephew Dipanshu were badly injured. When Ram Pal's wife Preeti intervened, she was also beaten and her hair pulled. The injured were immediately admitted to the Civil Hospital where Ram Pal was referred to a higher medical facility as his condition was serious. On Friday, people organised a protest against the sale of drugs and demanded action but no case was registered.

Station House Officer Manvinder Singh said a medico-legal report (MLR) had been received from the Civil Hospital and a complaint had also been registered. He said raids were being conducted to apprehend the accused.
