Dutch cyclist injured in mishap, cops fail to act

SANGRUR: A 30-year-old cyclist from Netherlands, Isha Schoots, was injured after he was hit by a motorcyclist in Dhuri on Saturday.

A 30-year-old cyclist from Netherlands, Isha Schoots, was injured after he was hit by a motorcyclist in Dhuri on Saturday. The police are yet to take action.

Schoots is on a bicycle tour of various countries to learn about different cultures and spread the message of peace.

An eyewitness, said: “A motorcyclist hit him while overtaking on the Dhuri-Ludhiana road. I took him to the local Civil Hospital.”

Talking to The Tribune, the cyclist said: “The police have not contacted me till now. I don’t want any action against the motorcyclist, but he should be taught the traffic norms to prevent such incident in future.”

Dr Pargat Singh from the Civil Hospital confirmed that he had intimated the Dhuri police about the accident. “Schoots suffered injuries on his face, leg, hands and chest. We did inform the police around 2 pm on Saturday.”

Sangrur SSP Sandeep Garg said he would look into the matter. “I will depute the DSP to record the statement of the cyclist and take further action quickly,” he added.
