Enforcement Directorate team stays put at Kharar flat after Thursday’s Punjab raids

More than 24 hours after the Enforcement Directorate team raided Nitin Gohal's flat in Kharar, the team is still present at the flat on Friday morning.

Gohal's children were escorted to school by an official on Thursday.

Since Thursday, officials have been taking short breaks by turn. A CRPF cordon is on in the housing society.

The raids are also continuing on the premises of Dhir Constructions.

The ED on Thursday conducted search and seizure operations against two Punjab-based real estate groups in connection with alleged fraudulent change of land use approvals, and cheating of landowners and homebuyers, with dramatic scenes unfolding in Kharar where bundles of cash were seen being thrown from a flat during the raid.

ED sources in Delhi said the raid was carried out at Flat No 906 in Western Towers, Chajju Majra. During the search operation, two bags allegedly containing cash bundles were reportedly thrown from the building premises.

ED sources further said 12 locations in Mohali and Chandigarh were raided including premises of several builders and housing projects as well as that of Nitin Gohal, reportedly a close associate of an OSD to a senior government functionary.
