Er Punnerdeep Singh Brar assumes charge as PSPCL Director/Generation

Days after start of the paddy season, Er Punnerdeep Singh Brar on Friday assumed charge as Director/Generation of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) following his appointment to the key post by the corporation.

Prior to his elevation, Er Brar was serving as Engineer in Chief (P&M) in Ludhiana and was the senior-most among the serving chief engineers in the PSPCL. With over 34 years of experience in the power sector, he brings extensive technical and administrative expertise to the position.

After taking charge, Er Brar expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond and Secretary Power-cum-Chairman and Managing Director of PSPCL Dr Basant Garg for reposing faith in him and entrusting him with the responsibility. He said he would strive to live up to their expectations and work dedicatedly towards strengthening the state's power generation infrastructure.

Brar said his immediate priority would be to ensure the uninterrupted operation of Punjab’s thermal and hydel power stations during the peak paddy season, when electricity demand witnesses a significant surge.

Notably, he was also a member of the team constituted by PSPCL to ensure uninterrupted eight-hour day time power supply to farmers during the agricultural season. His vast experience in the power sector is expected to further strengthen the PSPCL’s efforts to provide reliable and efficient electricity services across the state.

A native of Faridkot, Er Brar has served in various capacities during his long career and possesses hands-on experience in Thermal Generation, Distribution, Enforcement, Material Services, and the Commercial Organisation of PSPCL. His appointment is being viewed as a significant step towards enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring a robust power supply system in Punjab.
