Former Congress councillor Narinderpal Sidhu was shot by unidentified assailants at his residence in Moga’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar area on Tuesday evening. Sidhu was sitting in the park inside his house when two youths, with their faces covered, entered and opened fire, hitting him in the leg and shoulder. He’s currently stable at a Moga hospital.

Police are investigating, scanning CCTV footage, and recording family members’ statements. “Preliminary inquiry suggests an old rivalry,” said Inspector Varun Kumar, SHO of the City-1 police station. A manhunt is on to arrest the accused.
